Day 1 & 2

Good Morning...

Day 1

A travel day... Took a shuttle bus from Chattanooga to the Atlanta airport leaving at 1 PM... Morning was spent packing and making sure all my lethal weapons like pocket knives and tooth brushes were stowed in checked baggage... Tosh drove me to the shuttle and off I went... Flight departed Atlanta around 5 PM with a 4 hour stop in Phoenix then on to Las Vegas, and finally arriving at Medford around 2 AM left coast time... Found a place to plug in my cellphone and confuser and racked out for a couple hours sleep until the car rentals opened...

Day 2

Decided to rent a car as I was sure some running would need to be done to get Vanna back up running... The storage facility is within walking distance of the airport so it makes returning the car a no brainer... On first look at Vanna and "The Bean", things looked encouraging... One flat tire on the Bean, one dead battery on Vanna, and a few Hornet nests tucked here and there on both vehicles... Aired up the tire and it was obvious that 3 years had taken a heavy toll on all of the tires on both rigs... Headed out to get some gas and gas conditioner and made it back to work on Vanna by 9... Took over an hour of priming and starting to get the bad gas out of the fuel line but finally she roared to life and settled into a gentle lope... Put the new Georgia tag on her and headed off for the local tire store for a new pair of shoes... While replacing the tires they inspected the brakes and all was well but the left CV boot was cracked and in need of repair... That will happen at 11AM on day three and then I can make tracks for Salt Lake City...

After the new shoes on Vanna, I pulled the Bean over to the tire store to have new shoes put on her... Headed over to the shopping area of Medford and installed a new battery in Vanna in the Walmart parking lot... After a pit stop at "Taco Hell" collected up the Bean, returned the rental car, did some grocery shopping and headed out of Medford to camp for the night on the Rogue River... After a supper of fresh bread, fruit, and some cheese, I managed to stay awake for most of the first NFL game of the season, with a shower thrown in at half time...

You all take care and have fun... More to follow...

Keep-em-Flying,

Bruce...
